Scheduling & expiration
For content entries, go-live and end times are controlled in the Visibility section of the editor sidebar. This guide applies to content content models (not taxonomy entries).
If you are new to entries, start with Entries for creating and editing entries.
Visibility states
Section titled “Visibility states”The visibility badge shows the current state of the entry:
- Draft: the entry is not available through the API
- Live: the entry is published and available through the API
- Scheduled: the entry will go live automatically at the selected time
- Expired: the entry was previously live and was automatically unpublished at its scheduled end time
Publish now
Section titled “Publish now”To make an entry live immediately:
- Open the entry.
- In Visibility, turn on Publish.
- Under Go live, keep Now selected.
- Click Save Changes.
After saving, the entry becomes live and is available through the API.
Schedule publishing
Section titled “Schedule publishing”To publish an entry in the future:
- Open the entry.
- In Visibility, turn on Publish.
- Under Go live, select Schedule.
- Choose a future date and time in Go live on.
- Click Save Changes.
After saving, the entry stays in the scheduled state until the selected time. It is then published automatically.
Schedule expiration
Section titled “Schedule expiration”You can choose when a live or scheduled entry should be unpublished automatically.
- Open the entry.
- In Visibility, turn on Publish.
- Choose whether the entry should go live Now or on a Schedule.
- Under When to unpublish, select Schedule.
- Choose a date and time in Unpublish on.
- Click Save Changes.
The unpublish time must be later than the go-live time. When that time is reached, the entry is automatically unpublished and shown as Expired in the Studio.
Return an entry to draft
Section titled “Return an entry to draft”To stop an entry from being live or cancel a scheduled publish:
- Open the entry.
- In Visibility, turn off Publish.
- Click Save Changes.
If the entry was live, saving removes it from the API. If it was scheduled, saving cancels the publish schedule and returns it to draft.
